Here’s what KTM has in store for the off-road kind

Here’s what KTM has in store for the off-road kind, for when the RC fever ebbs

It’s time to rejoice, with the RC200 and RC390 having been launched at properly tempting prices. There’s even more of a reason to rejoice, as we can now eagerly await the arrival of the Adventure version of the 390 in the near future.

Details are scarce at this point, but there is a possibility that the adventurous little KTM motorcycle will be launched at either the upcoming EICMA or INTERMOT show, along with the new range-topping 1290 Super Adventure. And since we at TopGear understand that our readers can’t wait that long for the bike to be unveiled, here is a rendering of the 390 Adventure to give you a taste of things
to come.

We are very certain that most of the mechanicals will be a carry-over from the current 390 range. The upside-down front forks will gain a fair few inches of travel, which will enable them to take some off-road bashing. Same goes for the rearmonoshock as well.

As with almost all adventure motorcycles, KTM has slapped on a pair of wire-spoke wheels, so you don’t have to worry about cracking those expensive alloy rims in the rough. The rear-end will get a metal carrier for your luggage, which you could also choose to dunk into the solid pannier, which KTM should sell as an optional accessory.

The single-cylinder, 373cc, 43bhp engine will be a straight lift from the Duke, but it won’t be slotted into the Adventure’s chassis unchanged. As is the requirement off-road, it will be retuned for low- and mid-range performance. After all, top speed is hardly a concern when you’re dealing with muck and grime.

Since the RC390 is now the flagship of the 390 range, the Adventure will be positioned between the Duke and the RC.
