New Jazz on sale next year
Honda has released the first official pictures and details of its new Jazz supermini ahead of a planned debut at the paris motor show next month.Due to arrive in UK showrooms next summer, the new model is already on sale in the Us and other markets, badged as the Fit.
Officially still described as a prototype in paris show guise, the new Jazz measures 3915mm long with a wheelbase of 2530mm dimensions which have grown by 15mm and 30mm respectively over the current car.
powering the new Jazz will be a 1.3-litre i-VteC petrol engine coupled either to a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVt. A hybrid version, using a 1.5-litre engine in conjunction with an electric motor to develop a combined 133bhp, will go on sale later next year.
the car’s suspension has also been revised, delivering what Honda calls “a more refined and comfortable ride for both the driver and passengers”.the rear ‘magic seats’ function differently from those in the Civic, tipping forwards to create a sizeable load space. Honda hasn’t released boot volumes for the Jazz, but its Fit sister car offers a maximum of 1492 litres of space significantly more than the older model’s 1320 litres.
A sister car to the new Jazz has already been revealed. the new Hr-V compact crossover, which will join the Jazz at the paris show, shares similar underpinnings and will go on sale in the UK early next year.
