Ducati Scrambler Reborn

Ducati has reincarnated the Scrambler and in doing so has created its least expensive motorcycle in recent memory; you can buy a red Icon version for $15,790. Add $2k for the other three models. Providing power is an oil and air cooled 90-degree two-valve 803 cc vee-twin engine, with easily accessible torque and power.

The Scrambler features ‘post heritage’ (retro) design elements while up to the minute technology includes an aluminium swingarm, front and rear LED lighting and LCD instruments. A comfortable perch is ensured with wide, upright bars and a long seat, while a low centre of gravity and light weight suggest a friendly nature.

The four versions are each a bit different. Icon is the starting point with interchangeable side panels. Urban Enduro is optimised for city streets and country back roads. It comes in a ‘wild green’ colour. The Full Throttle has the flat-tracker look with short tail, tapered bars and a Termignoni racing exhaust.

The Classic resembles the original Scrambler, with an orange and black paintjob for the tank. It also sports metal mudguards and a traditional plate holder. All versions have a rounded headlamp with an LED light guide around the rim. The 790 mm seat height makes the bikes accessible to all, while the long seat easily accommodates a pillion.

Before year’s end a range of accessories will be available, along  with Scrambler apparel. The bikes will land first thing in the New Year.
